As a member of the Redbirds Lacrosse Club, we are committed to fostering a positive and respectful environment for all participants in our program. To ensure that our club operates with integrity and upholds the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect, we have established the following Code of Conduct for players, parents, coaches, managers, trainers, and members. Violations of this code will result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Disciplinary Procedures section.

Players' Code of Conduct

  • Respect for Others: Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect and courtesy. Maintain good sportsmanship at all times.

  • Fair Play: Play the game with honesty and integrity, adhering to the rules and spirit of the game.

  • Teamwork: Be a team player and support your teammates both on and off the field.

  • Dedication: Attend practices, games, and events regularly and arrive on time. Make a commitment to improving your skills and fitness.

  • Self-Control: Manage your emotions and frustrations in a positive and constructive manner. Avoid confrontations with teammates, coaches, or officials.

  • Anti-Bullying: Bullying, in any form, is strictly prohibited. This includes verbal, physical, relational or cyberbullying. Treat all members with kindness and empathy.

  • Relational Bullying: Do not engage in behaviours that manipulate, excludes or harms relationships of others within the team.

  • Communication: Be open and honest with your coaches and teammates. Address concerns through appropriate channels rather than spreading rumors or engaging in negative talk.

  • Equipment: Respect and care for club equipment and facilities.

Coaches' Code of Conduct

  • Player Development: Focus on the development and well-being of the players both on and off the field.

  • Respect: Show respect to players, parents, officials and coaches.

  • Continuous Learning: Strive to improve coaching skills and stay up-to-date with coaching techniques and rules.

  • Sportsmanship: Model good sportsmanship and language; ensure players do the same.

  • Safe Environment: Maintain a safe training environment, paying attention to player safety and welfare.

  • Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts or concerns openly and with integrity.

Managers' Code of Conduct

  • Organization: Ensure proper organization of team logistics, including scheduling, communication, and administrative duties.

  • Transparency: Keep players and parents informed about club events, schedules, and any important information.

  • Respect: Treat players, parents, coaches, and fellow managers with respect and courtesy.

Trainers' Code of Conduct

  • Player Safety: Prioritize the well-being and safety of players.

  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor and respect the confidentiality of player injuries.

  • Communication: Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and parents regarding injury management.

Parent/Guardian's Code of Conduct

Support: Encourage and support your child, their teammates, and the coaching staff in

a positive and constructive manner.

Respect: Treat all players,coaches, officials, and fellow parents with respect and

courtesy.

Sportsmanship: Demonstrate good sportsmanship and encourage your child to do the

Same.

Communication: Communicate effectively and respectfully with coaches, other parents,

and club officials. Address concerns through appropriate channels.

Relational Bullying: Do not engage in or tolerate any behavior that manipulates, excludes, or harms the relationships of others within the team.

Attendance: Ensure that your child attends practices, games, and events regularly and arrives on time.

Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts or concerns openly and with integrity.

Disciplinary Procedures

  • Reporting Violations: Any alleged violation of this Code of Conduct should be reported to the respective team's head coach or manager in writing.

  • Investigation: The head coach, manager, or director of the program will conduct an investigation into the reported violation, then render disciplinary actions.

  • Disciplinary Actions: Depending on the severity of the violation, disciplinary actions may include verbal warnings, written warnings, suspension, or expulsion from the club.

  • Appeals: Those facing disciplinary actions may appeal to the board of directors. The board will review the case and make a final decision.

  • Final Decision: The decision of the board is final.

By abiding by this Code of Conduct, we can maintain a supportive and respectful environment in the Redbirds Lacrosse Club, ensuring that all members can enjoy and benefit from their lacrosse experience.

This code of conduct is intended to supplement, not override the OLA and OWFL Code of Conduct.
