Why Play Field Lacrosse with the Redbirds?

Our program combines expert coaching, competitive play, and a supportive team environment to help every player reach their potential.

Whether you're looking to complement your box lacrosse experience, pursue scholarship opportunities in the United States, or simply enjoy the game, the Redbirds field lacrosse program offers the perfect pathway for your development.

What is Field Lacrosse?

Field lacrosse is the outdoor version of lacrosse, played on a grass or turf field similar in size to a soccer field. Unlike box lacrosse which is played in indoor arenas, field lacrosse offers a different pace and style of play with 10 players per side. The game emphasizes endurance, field vision, and strategic positioning across the larger playing surface.  The outdoor game features faster transitions, more space to develop stick skills, and a unique tactical dimension that complements box lacrosse perfectly.

U13 Head Coach

Graham grew up playing lacrosse in Brampton with his two brothers.  He became associated with the Redbirds when his son played both box and field for the organization.  You may have seen him as a referee at the Rep level over the past 10 years in either Field/Box and now Sixes.  Now retired, he is a Swim Instructor for Stouffville.

"Graham has indicated that if any parent/child is on the fence about playing field this year, you can email him through the club and he will be happy to talk about his style and what he would like to offer the kids this year, and hear what your child wants out of the team (e.g. fun/ travel ball/scholarships/box warm-up/etc.)."

Scholarship Opportunities

The growth of collegiate field lacrosse in America has created scholarship opportunities at the secondary school level. Hundreds of NCAA Division I, II, and III programs now offer athletic scholarships and financial aid packages worth tens of thousands of dollars annually.

Canadian players with strong field lacrosse backgrounds are highly sought after. These opportunities provide not just athletic development, but access to world-class academic institutions that can shape your future career.

Starting early in field lacrosse gives you the competitive edge needed to pursue these opportunities. Many former Redbirds players have successfully earned scholarships to continue their athletic and academic careers at the highest levels.
